SWAHILI COOKING LESSON & SPICE FARM

SWAHILI COOKING LESSON

In our recipe kitchen, all of us together with our head chef will decide what kind of Swahili food to cook. This unique experience will give you a great opportunity to visit the local market and learn how Zanzibar people buy ingredients and other foods such as fish, chicken, meat, fruits, and vegetables. Popular choices are Pilau rice and Dessert Salad, cassava and fish cooked with coconut milk, spices and Salad. We can decide to cook chicken, fish, or octopus cooked with coconut milk and spices. We can also decide to cook other different Zanzibar dishes. Zanzibar is an island of spices, and every Zanzibari uses different types of spices during cooking, such as cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, ginger, onion, garlic, black pepper, cumin, nutmeg, paprika, saffron, vanilla, star anise, turmeric, curry leaves, basil seeds, and much more. This will be a memorable, mouth-watering experience.

ZANZIBAR SPICE FARM TOUR

Zanzibar is popular as a spice island, as one of the largest producers of spices in the world! Cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and turmeric are just some spices Zanzibarians use in all kinds of food. If you get a chance to visit the islands of Zanzibar, it is very worthwhile to visit the spice farm to learn how to cultivate spice plants, their uses, and their health benefits for humans. So as to create an unforgettable memory on this tour, we will design some decorations for you using coconut leaves, such as rings, ties, necklaces, bracelets and crowns. Also, you will have the opportunity to watch a coconut palm climber singing Swahili song “Jambo, Jambo Bwana, Habari Gani, Mzuri Sana”. You will taste delicious tropical fruits such as banana, mango, papaya, watermelon, grapefruit, orange, pineapple, cacao, starfruit and others. At the end of the tour, you may choose to purchase Spices as a reminder of a day well spent.
